Sikelelwa Nozipho Ndiweni’s mission to use modern technology to improve the lives of ordinary South Africans. This Ndiweni wants to do by ensuring that the quality of water consumed in different parts of the country, is of the highest possible quality.
As part of her Ph.D. research, Ndiweni aims to develop an innovative online monitoring tool to help water treatment plants produce high-quality drinking water in a more economical and environmentally friendly way. She hopes her research will improve access to safe drinking water while inspiring girls to pursue careers in science, engineering and technology.
Ndiweni obtained a BTech from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Unisa. Ndiweni has published two papers in accredited journals and has presented her work at national conferences of the South African Chemical Institute and the Water Institute of Southern Africa. One of her papers has been accepted for presentation at an upcoming conference of the International Water Association.
